November Meeting

Hey everyone!

Here is an update on our past few SWE activities.
1. On October 20th we had a Resume Review sponsored by the OKC chapter of SWE (You guys are awesome, thank you!)  Over 20 UCO students attended to have their resumes reviewed by engineering professionals.  The interview process was also explained and tips on how to have a successful interview were given.
2. Those members who recently went to the national SWE conference have received one job offer and several interviews so far.  Congratulations to them!
3. We also just took a group of 6 of our members to Johnson Controls for a very interesting and informative tour!

So what's coming up soon?
At our next meeting we'll be looking at more ways we can reach out into the community.

Engineering Resume Review

Tuesday October 20th @ 6:30pm

SWE MEETING!

Our next meeting is this coming Monday, Sept 28th from 2:00-3:00pm!!!

We'll be talking about the upcoming (and next year's) SWE Conference and some of our members will be sharing about their volunteer experience at the GE Oil & Gas Tournament.

You don't want to miss it!

Meeting Overview

Hey guys!

For those of you who couldn't make the meeting, here are a few things we went over.

The annual SWE banquet will be on May 1st at 6:00 p.m.!! Would don't want to miss out! Bring whoever you would like! As usual we are having a potluck so please sign up to bring something! Keep in mind if bringing a guest on how much food to bring! Please RSVP by April 26th! Can't wait!!

This week at our SWE Bar we will be selling tickets for the STEM Shindig! They will be $10 and the will include your meal for the evening, all the dancing your little heart can handle, and memories that will last a life time! It will April 16th from 6:00 - 9:00 p.m.. If you have class that night you are always welcome to come after! There was a little bit of confusion, you CAN bring guest from outside the Math and Science School, they just have to have a ticket to get in!!

Speaking of SWE bar, our final go at fundraising this year, April 29th, will be a tribute to some of our favorite professors and supporters. We would like to dedicate a food to each person. So let us know if you have a certain person, food, or a name we could use for this!

 

GE OIL and GAS Tour UPDATE!

All right people!

This tour starts at 9am on Thursday March 5. The address to the facilities is 6205 South Sooner Road, Oklahoma City, OK 73135. The address on Google is where the company's shipments are received, which is not where we are headed.

Please dress appropriately! No open toed shoes. No photography. Safety glasses will be provided. CARPOOLING IS A MUST!!! If you are an Edmond resident or Oklahoma City resident, please post on the event facebook page that you can or need to be carpooled. The facilities have a limited number of visitor parking that we must take into consideration. 

The tour will wrap up with a round table discussion with a Q&A session. Lunch will be provided by GE Oil and Gas. We should all be back on the road at around 12pm for students who have class at 1pm.

SWE Meeting Feb. 6 2015

Hello EVERYBODY!

First SWE Meeting of the Semester will Tuesday February 3 @ 12pm in HOH 100. Refreshments will be served! We will be discussing the SWE Sandwich Bar and other fundraising activities, SWE Conference in 2015 and the upcoming GE Tour.

The GE Oil & Gas tour is a wonderful opportunity for UCO students and professors to have a better understanding of the research and development happening right here in OKC! There will be presentations about current research and a facility tour soon afterward. The tour will be Tuesday February10th 9am - 12pm. PLEASE wear closed toed shoes and pants otherwise your will not be permitted on the facility tour. Yes we will be carpooling for the parking is limited! We are allowed 30 people (students, former students and faculty combined) so please RSVP through this email. Deadline for sign up will be Friday Feb. 6 @ 3pm. NO EXCEPTIONS!
